Celebrate De Pere to re-locate to Fairgrounds in De Pere
December 28, 2018
For Immediate Release
For 28 years, Celebrate De Pere has hosted Northeast Wisconsin’s largest nonprofit fundraising event, on Memorial Weekend. Over the last couple of years, the event has grown significantly and has reached a point that the board has had to take a look at the things and make some decisions about the future of the event and the organization. We have to take a look at all elements involved in the production of Celebrate De Pere. While challenges have emerged, one thing always rings true, Celebrate De Pere will always be the flagship event for the De Pere community. Our partnership and devotion to the City Of De Pere and the De Pere residents will always be strong.
Starting the summer of 2019, Celebrate De Pere will be moving to the Brown County Fairgrounds. Many factors were taken into consideration, when the board of directors made the decision to continue our partnership with the city of De Pere, De Pere Parks & Rec Dept. but to also form a partnership with the Brown County Parks Dept., and the Brown County Board. The relocated event will continue to include all of the most popular activities like the carnival midway, local, regional, and national Main Stage acts, up-and-coming side stage acts, several nonprofit food and beverage vendors, local and regional marketplace vendors, the Sunday Collector Car Show, and of course the firework extravaganza. And as always, all proceeds will go directly to the Greater De Pere community nonprofit organizations.
The Brown County Fairgrounds, offer us the opportunity to expand in the future, while maintaining most of our current activities. We will also be able to partner with other nonprofit organizations to provide onsite standard and handicap parking in a safe area. Celebrate will also be able to partner with area safe transportation options to ensure everyone has a safe ride home instead of risking impaired driving. Hosting the event on a property, setup for events, offers some additional growth opportunities. The event will primarily take place from the midway section of the park to the South, providing plenty of shade trees, and giving us the entire North side to grow into in the future.
Brown County has already committed to renovating and improving the grounds in the coming year. We have had a chance to review the improvements and are excited to include those improvements in our plans. The updates and improvements will make the grounds fresh, natural, and help to propel Celebrate De Pere into the future.
Challenges do remain, and we understand some people may not agree with our decision, but the committee is working with all parties to make necessary changes so everything can work in unison. We will continue to work together to make Celebrate De Pere the flagship event it always has been.
We are excited to become partners with Brown County while continuing our longstanding relationship with the great City of De Pere. We look forward to the 29th annual Celebrate De Pere, and the future growth of the event.
